About event
As part of the Freedom and Democracy Festival, we invite you to a film screening on November 16, 2024 at 7:00 p.m., which conveys life in the time of totality. It offers two documentaries from the workshop of the Institute of National Memory (November +20, We Survived the Gulag) and a cult blockbuster with Jan Potměšil, Roman Skamene and Tomáš Hanák Bony a klid.
November +20 ('26) – Documentary a look at pre-November, November and post-November events of 1989, which shaped the development of the country and humanity. A film for all those who have not forgotten and will not forget, as well as for those who never had the opportunity to know many of the events...
Bony and Klid ('90) - a cult feature film from the 80s about the Vekslák era in Czechoslovakia . A sad life episode of young Martin, who becomes a victim of fraud and, in order to compensate for the financial loss, starts trading currencies himself. He becomes a member of a moneylender's gang, through which he gets an apartment and a profitable job and meets the attractive Eva. At first, he successfully earns money from ingeniously organized events, but the disclosure of one scam literally deprives Martin of everything. The film documentary confronts the experiences of the last living prisoners from Slovakia – it follows their fates from arrest to return, through encounters with the death of fellow prisoners, the cruelty of the underworld, but also the dedication of health workers in the conditions of the camps and inhospitable nature.
