Dear ladies and gentlemen, dear friends of the AfD parliamentary group in the German Bundestag,
November 9th, 1989 is one of the fateful “turning points” in German history. The day the wall came down was a lucky day. It was the climax of the peaceful revolution. It was the day on which the people themselves seized the opportunity and opened the gate to freedom.
35 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, we want to celebrate this historic moment, because without November 9th, the reunification of our beloved fatherland would not have happened. At the same time, we would like to remind you that there were hopes associated with German unity, not all of which were fulfilled. How the legacy of that peaceful revolution can be preserved and defended is also the focus of our remembrance.
We cordially invite you to look back on this historic day together with our guests and to appreciate its world-historical significance. Following the event, we look forward to welcoming you to a reception.
