RNDr. Milada Řeháková, Ph.D.: lecture in the center of Brno - Café Práh - Vaňkovka gallery.
The Philippines, whose full name is the Republic of the Philippines, is an island nation in Southeast Asia. They are spread over 7,641 islands in the western Pacific Ocean and are divided into three geographic units: the Visayas, Luzon and Mindanao. At the same time, it is among the world's unique countries, as a country with incredible natural wealth. So this time we will be guided through this island paradise by the traveler and our leading zoologist Milada Řeháková. So we will spend most of our time in the forest, where during many of her expeditions she explored its mainly animal treasures both scientifically and for protection purposes.
On the island of Bohol, where she has spent most of her time during her previous stays in the Philippines, the main object of her scientific research also lives and at the same time one of the smallest primates in the world – the mysterious night gnome the Philippine tarsier (Tarsius syrichta) with large bulging eyes: https://www.facebook.com/TarsiusProject.
A God-pleasing project that you all can support in various ways: https://tarsiusproject.org/podporte/
There we will also see the magical Chocolate Mountains - symmetrically shaped conical hills of roughly the same size - overgrown with brownish (like chocolate) grass, which are referred to as a modern wonder of the world and are rightfully inscribed on the UNESCO list.
We will also visit the small and tourist-unknown island of Dinagat, which hides the critically endangered Dinagat giant mouse. It was almost considered extinct and only thanks to the Czech project did the world hear about it again. In the forests and caves of the mountains of Luzon island, many secrets of human history are also hidden - fascinating mummies, hanging coffins and beautiful rice terraces. You will also learn how the work of a zoologist and the current leader of the Tarsius project can be combined with traveling with small children.
Come hear and see everything directly from the zoologist scientist Milady Řeháková as part of this year's winter travel series of the travel agency Kudrna - on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 6:30 p.m. to Brno's Café Práh in the center of Brno near Vaňkovec - with voluntary admission. Those of you from outside Brno, be sure to connect to the current free online stream with the possibility of questions - even to your homes, pubs or clubhouses all over the world > it will be worth it as always.
