About event
Lecturer's introduction: Marie Barešová
Václav Krška was a privileged creator at the age of 50 who directed biographical films dedicated to Czech giants and prestigious literary adaptations. He was also entrusted with the first foreign co -production prepared in the film studio Barrandov - a legend of love. Due to the high costs of this epic film, the second cooperation with the Bulgarian studio of feature film Sofia was implemented with the involvement of a similar staff and using already prepared decorations and costumes. In Labakan, Eduard Cupák won the main role, whose most famous films were made in the 50s thanks to cooperation with Krška. After Alois Jirásek (young years) or Jan Ratkin (silver wind), he became a fairy tale of tailor's journeyman Labakan, longing for high positions and wealth. In addition to exotic black Sea locations, the main visual asset of foreign co -production are magnificent costumes not only Sultan's court, but also dozens of his subjects. Their author was Fernand Vácha, a long -time collaborator of Krška and František Čáp. The painter born in Paris, trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nantes and later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, made his debut in the film under the Protectorate at Lucerna Miloš Havel as well as both his "court" directors.
