“The double life of Anani Y.” is the working title of the film, in which director Georgi Balabanov manages to bring the two Yavachev brothers together on screen after a long separation. The delayed finale is good not only for the characters but also for the author, with an invisible dividing line that turns every minus into a plus. Christo and Anani Yavachev lived separated by the Iron Curtain for 26 years. Trapped in communist Bulgaria, Anani is a humble actor. Christo, who fled the country in 1956, became one of the world's most famous modernists. The film is about the hopes and illusions in two lives from two worlds.
