We cordially invite you to the next round of the series of public philosophical discussions on the Black Bridge!
We are waiting for a round table where we will discuss together the topic of love and what we think about it all - and what it means to us.
We can open questions like:
What is love?
Are there different "kinds" of love? What connects them, or does it divide?
Does love have a more biological or psychological (or other) essence?
Is it inherent only to humans, or also to other creatures?
Is love good or useful? Why?
Is love morally problematic because it can influence our decision-making?
(How) are our ideas about love influenced by how it is depicted in art?
It is possible to approach love with reason, or reflect on it critically or philosophically?
Is love related to the meaning of life?
The event is open to everyone and no special preparation is required. Philosophical mentors will be present, who, if necessary, will guide the discussion or specify the philosophical context.
Basic rules of the discussion:
- We formulate our views and positions
- We listen and try to understand other views and positions
- We have a civilized discussion about them
- Agreement is not a creed, but recognition of a better argument
- Disagreement is not a form of aggression, but considering the argument insufficient
- We only attack the arguments, we do not attack those who formulate them
- We respect both our similarities and differences
