Galerie Entrance's exhibition program for 2026 is based on an ecological understanding of the forest as an interconnected organism in which trees, fungi, soil and microorganisms create a network of sharing, cooperation and memory. The inspiration is the book Finding the Mother Tree (2021) by forest ecologist Suzanne Simard, who, based on long-term research on mycorrhizal networks, showed that the forest functions as an interconnected community. The so-called mother trees – old individuals supporting the growth and survival of other organisms – are of particular importance in it. Simard thus fundamentally transformed the view of the forest from a space of competition to a space of cooperation. The exhibition takes its name from her book and presents three artistic personalities for whom nature is a lifelong inspiration.

Jan Karpíšek connects painting with conceptual and environmental art. He involves natural processes and living organisms in the creation of his works and questions the anthropocentric view of the world. His painting Landscape (2014) can be understood as a metaphor for the mother tree and the deep connection between man and the landscape.

Petr Gruber works with the landscape as a space of memory, emotions and inner experience. His nighttime forest scenes capture a quiet, mysterious environment on the border between reality and imagination. At the same time, they remind us of the transformation of Czech forests due to economic exploitation and ecological crises.

Lenka Falušiová explores the forest in her drawings and paintings as a space of silence, concentration and inner experience. Trees appear here as unique beings and symbols of resistance, memory and care. The exhibited works evoke the majesty of lonely trees, which can be perceived as the imaginary mother trees of the forest community.

The exhibition connects three different artistic approaches and draws attention to what goes beyond the human perspective, what nourishes us, supports us and at the same time requires our care and respect.
