Medicinal plants tell stories of resistance, healing and connection
Flamingo e.V. is a network for refugee women* and children in Berlin-Neukölln. Since 2015, the association has been committed to self-determination, social participation and strengthening the rights of refugee women*. For Tanznacht Berlin, employees of Flamingo e.V. share their knowledge of medicinal herbs that can help people deal with trauma, grief and strengthen their self-healing powers.
The transcultural medicinal herb garden Hevrîn Xelef in Neukölln, named after the Kurdish politician and activist of the same name, is also the focus of the sijelo “Heilkräuter kennen keine Grenzen”. The garden is a partner project with the women’s village of Jinwar in north-east Syria and serves as a place to share seeds, knowledge and experiences around healing, trauma and grief in communities. All participants are invited to make tea blends and herbal tinctures and learn about different medicinal plants and their effects.
The workshop is open to all — children are also welcome.
