About event
The Floating arboretum project
was created on the occasion of Slovak participation at the 60th International Exhibition of Art La Bienna di Venezia. Last year you could see it at the Pohoda festival called "As Long As We Float Together". Floating arboretum will also be seen with a hint of performance that took place in the Giardini di Biennale on the boat building. The boat was part of the Slovak exhibition, its author is Oto Hudec and is currently located in Košice.
Annotation:
“Floating arboretum works with the archives of stories that talk about joint efforts in which the united community of activists prevented deforestation, excavation and destruction of trees. Extractivism is an imaginative view of the utopian future in which we choose and save the trees by moving them to a safe (fictitious) arborete. The rescue is an ideological power construct that needs to be viewed from the decolonization perspective.
The choreography was prepared by Petra Fornayová and the costumes were created by Michaela Bednárová. that the stories of Floating Arboretum can encourage transformative imagination and can be an inspiration in our daily lives. ” [Lydia Pribišová]
