About event
Stage adaptation of the poetic novel The Flowers of Srebrenica by Aidan Hehir.
Ira's journey from Sarajevo to the Srebrenica genocide memorial center in the company of a silent Bosnian reflects human ties, the fragility of civilization, the West's view of distant conflicts and hidden responsibility. The performance maintains the main plot line of the book, but adds a wider framework, using the image of the flower girls of Srebrenica - played by a chorus of women from conflict-affected areas - to connect the genocide with recent conflicts, playing with different theatrical practices and conveying a message of resilience.
