About event

Learn to consciously photograph modern architecture - with an eye for perspective and composition on a guided photo tour through Berlin.

Photo tour architectural photography Berlin - composition & Perspective

The clear lines, strong contrasts and exciting shapes of modern architecture are ideal for expressive architectural photography. In our photo tour “Between Sky, Glass and Concrete” you will learn how to capture these elements in an atmospheric way. The three-hour tour is aimed at amateur photographers who are enthusiastic about modern architecture, want more than just snapshots and want to develop their skills further - without burdening themselves with unnecessary technical baggage, but with a clear eye for the essentials. The tour takes place in the late afternoon and ends around an hour before sunset. During this time, modern architecture appears in a particularly clear light with precise shadows, strong lines and a sky that gives the image space - ideal conditions for capturing architecture in a clear, detailed form. There are two routes to choose from: one leads around Potsdamer Platz, the other through the area around Berlin Central Station including Europacity and Spreebogen. Both offer plenty of opportunity for impressive architectural photos. During the tour, I will not only show you exciting perspectives and motifs, but also explain the appropriate camera settings. I'll give you practical tips on image composition and consciously searching for motifs. This photo tour is not a classroom lesson, but rather a shared experience and an invitation to learn to see in a new way. Architecture is built time - and we take the time to capture it with calm and respect for the subject as well as with a trained eye.

Route A - Urban geometry and modern contrasts

This route takes you right into the heart of the capital, to Potsdamer Platz. Here, glass high-rises meet clear lines and modern architecture meets spacious squares. Powerful motifs full of structure and depth are created between steel, concrete and light reflections. The alternation between narrowness and width as well as height and surface offers ideal conditions for using perspectives in a targeted manner and working with graphic elements. The play with reflections and vanishing lines is also not neglected here.

Route B – Clear edges and new urban structures

This route begins at Berlin Central Station and first leads to Europacity. This area is young in terms of urban development and architecturally exciting. Clear shapes, grid facades and a play of light and shadow dominate here. The place is reduced, structured and urban. It is therefore ideal for sharpening the photographic eye for order in the image and for working with perspective and focal length. The glass facades of the main station, the Cube or the Futurium provide striking building forms with a strong graphic effect and offer ideal conditions for architectural photography with a focus on perspective, symmetry and reflection. The combination of modern architecture, reflective surfaces and urban space creates strong, calm compositions with an effect of depth. A special appeal of this tour lies in the contrast between massive construction and filigree details - perfect for working with lines and image composition.
