About event
🕍 The premises of the Nitra Synagogue will be resounded by the combination of music and poetry. "Have you ever heard Hviezdoslav or Janko Kráľ set to music?"
🎼Poems of the most important classics will be heard in the attractive form of songs in the interpretation of the award-winning quartet.
✨ František Báleš Ensámbel is a group of leading Slovak musicians who have received the Radio Head Awards and Esprit Jazz Awards. It was founded by the pianist and composer František Báleš, with the intention of celebrating the names of important poets with an original and attractive setting of their poetry.
He translated the works of Pavel Országh Hviezdoslav, Janek Kráľ, Ján Smrek, Rudolf Dilong, Ján Kostra, Milan Rúfus, Janek Kráľ, Jaroslav Seifert, František Hrubín, Jan Skácel and others into songs, which are recorded on the albums HVIEZDOSLAV - SONNETS (Hudobný fund, 2021) and MUSICAL POEMS (Hevhetia, 2022).
🎻 The ensemble develops its concert activities at domestic and foreign festival events and cooperates with important personalities from the fields of jazz, classical music and artistic performances.
✨ The concert will feature songs from both albums, as well as a forthcoming new release based on the lyrics of the legendary Janko Kráľ ballad, The Haunted Virgin in Váh, in English translation by John Minahane.
