About event
The Bratislava-Ružinov district brings you as part of the International Multigenre Festival Symphony of Arts:
FREDDIE IN THE OPERA! all the best Freddie Mercury 80
symphonic concert
The concert on the occasion of the 80th birthday of Freddie Mercury will take place exactly on his birthday - September 5 - as part of the Symphony of Arts festival. This is not another "Queen tribute" evening.
The dramaturgy of the concert is based on Mercury's relationship with opera and on the project that showed him the most: the album Barcelona, which he recorded with Montserrat Caballé. The opera line is the main motif of the concert. But the birthday concert will also feature Freddie and Queen's iconic hits - the ones we all know. The Festival Symphony Orchestra, a 40-member choir and soloists tenor Martin Gyimesi, sopranos Tatiana Hajzušová and Gabriela Hrženjak will perform on stage. The audience can look forward to selected compositions inspired by the Barcelona project as well as well-known hits in a symphonic-vocal arrangement.
The concert will present Mercury's work through the sound of an orchestra, choir and operatic voices - matter-of-factly, without imitation and without clichés.
Duration:
110 minutes with an intermission
Performers:
Martin Gyimesi, tenor
Tatiana Hajzušová, soprano
Gabriela Hrženjak, soprano
Festival Symphony Orchestra
40-member choir Voci Allegre
Adrián Kokoš, conductor
