Do you want to shoot an author's film, work with film material or improve your skills in film analysis and history? Free Cinema is opening the tenth year of the year-long film courses How to See and How to Create a Film.
HOW TO SEE A FILM:
How to See a Film is a series of analytical seminars, screenings and masterclasses by outstanding film personalities. Our pedagogues will present you with inspiring ways of thinking about filmmaking and theory, you will learn to analyze films, and you will listen to selected lessons from leading film dramaturgs and pedagogues. The year-long course is suitable as preparation for the theoretical part of the entrance exams for artistic universities, but at the same time it serves as a theoretical basis for the creation of one's own themes and scenarios. A filmmaker without thorough thought preparation is not a full-fledged author.
Lectures and masterclasses are led by prominent auteur filmmakers, female filmmakers and film educators: Květa Chaloupková, Valeria Recmanová, Václav Kadrnka, Jan Vejnar, Petr Horák, Jiří Forejt and others

HOW TO MAKE A FILM:
Practical course for those interested in filmmaking. Lectures are devoted to the preparation of scenarios, directing, but also the technical aspects of film, such as camera and sound. In the first semester, students go through the careful preparation of the script, from writing the subject, through the literary to the technical script. They will have the opportunity to discuss their topics and ideas with lecturers at regular meetings. The second semester is focused on technical professions in film. Sound, camera, editing, but also image and sound post-production in the studio. At the end, students get the opportunity to borrow technical equipment from FAMU and film their own short! After the end of the course, a ceremonial premiere of all filmed films will take place. The course includes trips to practice and year-round dramaturgical circles.
