About event
The film evening within the Symposia Free Radicals will present five films that refuse to perceive plants as a passive part of the world. Plants here act as actors of resistance, memory, intimacy and imagination and reveal intertwined stories of care and power and relationships between species. The colonial ruins, now absorbed by wild vegetation, resemble a time when an obsession with naming and sorting plants and people has created a world based on exploitation and domination - a world whose rules are quiet today. In the city, which suddenly invades exotic plants, the boundaries between nature and politics are blurred. And in a quiet, symbiotic life of lichens, we realize that coexistence is more convenient than competition and domination. They offer a picture of drugs that are beyond market logic, landscapes carrying traces of plantation past and alliances between species that refuse to be controlled - and invite you to stay with plants.
