About event
We know the new normal for post-pandemic Central Cities will be different from the past. Tomorrow’s downtowns are expected to have less of an office and retail focus, and among the largest 25 markets, Portland’s core vacancy rate in 2025 was one of the highest in the nation.
How do we want to fill the gap and shape the Portland Central City of tomorrow? How should civic leadership help to “right the ship” and send a signal to investors, leaders, and the community that Portland is once again on the move?
City Club’s Built Environment Issue Committee has recommended instituting a two-pronged multiyear focus on Central City 2050. Hear from three panelists involved in major Central City redevelopment projects, including the OMSI District, Rebuild Albina and the Broadway Corridor Master Plan, offer their perspectives on the role of philanthropic and business leadership in shaping the Portland Central City of tomorrow.
This program concludes the Rx for Central City Livability series, which began in the spring. The three previous programs were recorded and are available to watch here, along with more background about the project.
Panelists:
Erin Graham. President + CEO OMSI
Nolan Lienhart, Director of Planning & Urban Design ZGF Architects
D’Artagnan B. Caliman, Vice President of Philanthropy & Partnership, 1803 Fund
Moderator, Former Congressman Earl Blumenauer
