About event
With his new Work series _FROM_TO. Austrian photographer Roland Froschauer presents a fascinating examination of perception, movement and time. In the works realized in lenticular printing, the motifs do not unfold as static images, but as changing sequences: as you walk past, the views change, new image content emerges, others disappear - a dynamic that involves the viewer directly in the creative process.
In addition to these lenticular prints, Froschauer also shows large-format works on metallized surfaces. This play with materiality and light not only reflects the complexity of his artistic signature, but also refers to his professional career as a specialist in fine art print.
A particular highlight of this exhibition is the presentation of the largest one-piece lenticular work of art in the world. With an area of over four square meters, it opens up an impressive dimension of this technology and is being shown publicly for the first time ever.
The inspiration for _FROM_TO. grew out of Froschauer's numerous travels around the globe. In contrast to his commercial work, in which planning and control are the focus, he often only has the fleeting moment on the road: a brief moment, captured in the passing, in the change of light, mood and movement. He translates this spontaneity and the pace of travel into a visual language that is both fleeting and complex.
The result is works that renegotiate the relationship between space, time and perception and ask the question of how much our view of the world is shaped by our own movement.
