Who is coming with us on this free tour of Wien-Energie's Simmering power plant?

The Simmering power plant supplied electricity for the first time as early as 1902. Today it is one of the most modern and environmentally friendly facilities in Europe.
Since 2009, the environmentally friendly system has been supplying 730,000 households and more than 7,000 business customers with electricity.

In addition, the Simmering 1 power plant supplies district heating for almost 270,000 households. As with the Donaustadt power plant, a modern gas and steam turbine plant (CCGT plant) supplies the energy. Together with combined heat and power, this brings an efficiency of more than 81 percent.

It is one of the most modern and environmentally friendly facilities in Europe. And produces electricity and heat in an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly way. Huge gas and steam turbines, a biomass power plant, two gigantic “thermos flasks” and a large photovoltaic system are waiting to be visited.

Please note the **conditions of participation** specified by Wien-Energie. Long trousers such as jeans or comparable trousers must be worn. Unfortunately, fashionable long trousers made of an extra thin material, extra wide trousers or long trousers that are slightly too short (the trousers must reach to the ankle) are not permitted.

Access conditions:
All guests must wear **flat, sturdy, closed shoes** and **long pants**. Unfortunately, participation in the tour is not possible for people with limited mobility, heart or brain pacemakers and pregnant people. You are welcome to book a guest. I am waiving a place fee for this tour, but I do require reliable attendance! Please only register if you actually want to take part in this meeting! Failure to show up without canceling will result in me being blocked from future meetings.

Our place is reserved on Meetup. We'll meet at the doorman at 12:45. The tour begins promptly at 1 p.m. and lasts about 2 hours.

**Update**: I've now expanded to 20 people. This means we have the entire tour to ourselves. A further increase in the number of participants is no longer possible.
