At our monthly G sessions, musicians from a wide variety of genres, scenes and backgrounds meet to each other Improving, creating new sounds and inspiring you with spontaneous musical magic. Hosted by the G Session Houseband Outernationals, every session of spontaneity lives-but also from special guests. In September there are àbáse, Azekel and King Klavé.
Keyboarder and producer Szabolcs Bognár is not only part of our home band Outernational, but also has its own band project with àbáse. The word "àbáse" comes from the West African Yoruba language and stands for cooperation, collective efforts and a common vibe. As the idea of this project, Szabolcs Bognár brings together artists to create a sound in collaborative work that combines traditional West African and Afro-Brazilian music with jazz, hip-hop and club culture.
The Nigerian-British singer, songwriter and producer Azekel developed a passion for music early on. Influenced by Motown-Soul and Prince, he later expanded his musical spectrum by hip-hop, grime and electronic sounds. Azekel's music is characterized by a mixture of sensual R&B, futuristic soul and electronic elements. His texts deal with topics such as depression, self -esteem and parenthood, often accompanied by his characteristic, almost whispering falsetta. With his intimate songs, Azekel was even able to win Prince as a fan. He has worked with acts such as Massive Attack, Gorillaz and de la Soul and is certainly one of the most exciting voices that Britain has to offer. Tradition meets innovation in its music: Afrocuban rhythms, jazz, hip-hop, radio, soul and electronic sounds merge into fascinating, cross-genre worlds. The debut album Kingklavé, published in 2022, was created for over ten years in cooperation with 20 musicians and comprises numerous genre mixtures from Afro-Cuban, Jazz, Hip-Hop, R&B and Funk. Sizes such as Pino Palladino, Pedrito Martínez, DJ Harrison and Marcus Machado.
