About event
We invite you to the exhibition of Slovak painter Natalia Simonova.
The opening will take place on 28.6.2025 at 18:30
Natalie Šimonová's deposits are an exhibition that was created in close relationship with the place - Fabricka building 61. It uses the wording technique, in which it transmits the surface structure directly to the canvas, but its specific medium is rust. It is not only a material for her, but also the wearer of memory and passage of time. Rusty traces that collects and transmits are becoming images of decomposition and beauty in one - authentic imprint of the industrial past. In the deposits, the past is symbolically layered for the presence, records for experiences, canvas rust. The viewer is an observer of the past, which becomes visible through the tracks it has left. The rust has been formed on a metal floor for years, the canvas was removed from the production process and has been stored in the building for a long time. The works are placed outside - directly in contact with the environment they were created. Due to rain, wind, sun or moisture, the works are gradually changing. The exhibition is therefore a living process. The canvas can soften or harden, rust can continue to work, dirt can settle, deposits may increase. This unstable, changing condition is intentional - it is a continuation of the dialogue between the material and the environment. It is a work that has not ended with hanging, but continues to breathe and works. In 2020, she was awarded the Painting of the Year award and was the finalist of the International Strabag Art International 2021, where she won the recognition award. In 2024, she became the finalist of the Novum Foundation Award and one of the laureates of the Dandelopment competition. She exhibited her works in Slovakia and abroad - in the Czech Republic, Austria, France, Bulgaria, China or New York.
The exhibition will last from 28.6 to 15.8. 2025
