About event

The DISK and ARCHA+ Theater presents an author's production by students and graduates of the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theater DAMU Garden of Labour.

Today we work to clean up, today we clean up to work. Today we play to play. Hamlet is being played today.

A group of six stagehands meet on stage. Their common goal is to build a garden - Garden of Labour. Each of them approaches work in their own unique way, one approaches tasks evasively, the other with obsessive care. We thus see six different comments pointing to the absurdity of the work.

The production is an allegory of late capitalism, in which the stagehands build a garden that will serve as the scene for the tragic scene. Hamlet, the most performed play in history, reappears on stage. But why? What does this well-known story mean in today's world?

Garden of Labor thematizes the ethics of work, questions the value of endless overproduction and the invisible labor that supports it.

The production is a celebration of high art, staged concert and carefully performed cleaning. The garden in which the production takes place is then a magical sanctuary in which people and objects are equal. What happens when the mop comes to life and starts singing?
