-The Edge Installation in the raw premises of the construction of Co.labs-
The audio installation deals with the geological context of our surroundings -specifically the limestone of the Brno subsoil, which represents in the form of sound, kinetic and light objects. This time it will be situated in the raw, empty space Co.labs Hall, which is currently under reconstruction. It is also a unique opportunity to visit the Cultural Center Co.labs during the reconstruction.
!!! Warning !!! Due to increased safety, the construction site will only be accessible with fixed footwear.
Installation will take 2 hours and can be visited throughout the event.
A set of 15 objects creates a complex environment where visitors can contemplate slow geological processes that still create our planet. It has gone through many extreme situations and their result is, for example, some limestones. Different sounds of minerals, sonification of formal geological disasters and slow passing of time are just some elements you can expect.
Installation thus connects sound art, geology and light design.
objects and - kinetic scanners rotate around stones, illuminate and measure their surface. Based on measurements, granular synthesis of off -road recordings of selected limestones in the quarry quarry are modulated in real time. The sound is transmitted to a rotating loudspeaker to create a more complex spatial sound field. During this process, a fine sound that is scanned by an underwater microphone and further processed.
