On Saturday, November 1st at 7:30 p.m., Anette Daugardt and the writer Friederike Heimann will present their reading performance about Gertrud Kolmar for the first time, “In the chain of fire of the era”, before. Friederike Heimann is the author of the biography of Gertrud Kolmar of the same name, which was enthusiastically received by critics. The quote mentioned at the beginning also comes from this book.
Gertrud Kolmar is today considered one of the most important German-Jewish poets of the 20th century. As a woman, Jew and poet, she experiences the rapid changes of her time, this “chain of fire of the era” as Hannah Arendt called it, often from the perspective of an outsider. Be it the “Word of the Dumb” or “Animal Dreams”, be it the many female outsider figures in “Female Portrait” or entire poetic “worlds” that Kolmar creates in her poems – new, often surprisingly current perspectives always emerge.
