Zakaat is to give up part of your possession to people who need it, to distribute wealth more fairly and to alleviate poverty. This form of giving is a duty for Muslims who are able to do so.

Sadaqa is a voluntary gift or good deed, done from the heart. That can be money, but also time, attention or help. Sadaqa revolves around the importance of care for each other - from compassion.
In the summer there are conversations and creative sessions around these themes, to make visible how these values come to life in the city today.

During the program on 30 August we present the results of these meetings and you can listen to special stories.

- Presentation of the creative sessions with partners Imagine IC, Maqam and S.P.E.A.K.
- Ghost Word by Atta de Tolk and Muna Shirwa
- Panel discussion about Muslim heritage:
What does Muslim hulls mean today? What do we mean by Muslim heritage, who makes it, and how do we shape it together?
- Interactive program with public

This meeting is an initiative of the Muslim Archive and the Amsterdam Museum, in collaboration with Imagine IC, Maqam and S.P.E.A.K.
