About event
6 years after the release of the album Black Yoga, Ghost of You returns to MeetFactory to christen the new record Eyes Shut. Alongside them, cult band Insert the Cat emerges from apparent hibernation. 👻
Since the debut of Glacier & the City (2015), Brno's Ghost of You has been touring tirelessly. They presented their unpredictable whirlwind of guitars, bass and dance beats in all corners of the Czech Republic, but also in Slovakia, Austria, the Netherlands, Hungary, Germany and Great Britain.
The second album Black Yoga (2018) presented a more experimental position band and the range and authenticity of Tom Novohradský's singing. They impressed critics and the public with their fresh sound - the band performed at leading European festivals such as Sziget, Donauinselfest, Pohoda, Waves Vienna, Eurosonic Nooderslaag or Colors of Ostrava. With the record, she performed sold-out concerts in Brno and Prague clubs (Fléda, Kabinet Múz, Café v Lese).
During the pandemic, drummer Antonín Kropáček joins the lineup and the band works on new material. Eyes Shut's third album is out on November 15, 2024 on Indies Scope, and Ghost of You returns with it more mature and more mature than ever.
Insert the cat breaks down the boundaries between expectation and reality, with its energy and genre unrestrainedness, between spectator and performer. Their live performances are often full of fresh ideas - three drummers and three trombonists as guests; instead of one podium, four podiums in the corners; laser satellite, giant hanging mirrors... They played Prodigy, Battles or Explosions in the Sky as precursors.
Their second album Seat was one of the most outstanding recordings of 2013. Both Anděl and Vinyla appeared on the shelf in the rehearsal room. The band has definitively penetrated the stages of major festivals such as Colors of Ostrava (where they managed to play three times already), United Islands or Pohoda.
“A concert is a meeting place, a fixed point in time. It's not just about who's on stage, the entire audience, every single person in the audience, shapes the situation equally. Music is just air vibrations and then what we put into them, where they take us. Meaning is given equally by the band and the listener. We always tried to make music that came from us, but at the same time it wasn't a one-way street with a closed door. In music, there must be space, possibilities," says drummer and lyricist Cyril.
