GJH Open 2026

Dear debaters!
We are excited to announce that this year you can also look forward to the annual informal non-league tournament GJH Open!
Teams are made up of three members, and again this year the rule of a maximum of one non-high school student per team applies. We strongly recommend you, non-high school students, to participate in the tournament in the role of referees, which are in short supply every year.
Registration quota is currently set to 20 teams, in the case of a higher number of registered referees it can be increased.
REGISTER IS VALID only after the entire team has paid the registration fee.
Accommodation will be classically at the school, but we would like to ask all those who can arrange their own accommodation to do so due to the limited capacity.
The participation fee is 35 euros per debater, more information will be published SOON together with the REGISTRATION FORM

12:30 – 12:45: Opening of the tournament
12:45 – 13:15 : Preparation for the 1st round debate
13:15 – 15:15 : 1st round
15:15 – 15:40 : Break
15:40 – 15:45 : Statement of the 2nd round thesis
15:45 – 16:15 : Preparation for the 2nd round
16:15 – 18:15 : Round 2
1​8:15 – 18:50 : Dinner
18:50 – 19:00 : Statement of the thesis of Round 3
19:00 – 19:30 : Preparation for debate Round 3
19:30 – 20:45 : Round 3 (closed)
Sunday (21.6.):
07:15 – 07:45 : Breakfast + 4th round thesis statement
07:45 – 08:15 : Preparation for 4th round
08:15 – 10:15 : 4th round
10:15 – 10:45 : Break + Progress statement
10:45 – 11:15 : Preparation for the semi-finals
11:15 – 13:00: Double semi-finals + Junior final
13:00 – 13:45: Lunch + Announcement of the finalists
13:45 – 14:15: Preparation for the final

16:00 – 16:30: Evaluation of the tournament and announcement winners
FAQ:
WHAT WILL THE FORMAT BE?
Adjusted format of the Slovak Debate League - two three-member teams - instead of POIka cross-examinations, speeches 7,6,6,3; preparation time as usual 5s 7n - at the beginning of the tournament we will talk about it so that we all understand each other, but it is nothing complicated. All theses are impromptu and should be taken with a healthy dose of caution as this is an informal tournament.
HOW ABOUT THE FOOD DURING THE TOURNAMENT?
In the registration form (which we will publish soon) you will be able to choose Saturday dinner and Sunday lunch. Breakfast will also be included, but primarily for people who sleep at school.
HOW ABOUT THE ACCOMMODATION?
There is a possibility to sleep in the school during the tournament - however, the number of mats and the quality of such sleep are relatively limited, so we recommend that you consider your own accommodation. We would like to emphasize that on Sunday you must arrive no later than 7:45 a.m. - we recommend adjusting your Friday program accordingly.
