Mars with Going: The Nikki Giovanni Project (౨౦౨౩) - Malkavez Amsterdam

Together with the Amsterdam music platform Steppin 'Into Tomorrow we dive into the life of poet and activist Nikki Giovanni this evening. At the age of 80 she continues to challenge the conventions, both in life and in art. While she promotes a new poetry bundle, fighting breast cancer and her relationship with her son is resisting, she opposes a traditional documentary approach, with the famous statement: "I remember what is important and I come up with the rest." Filmmakers Joe Brewster and Michèle Stephenson create a lively Poegzie with her, and with her, and with her, and with her, and with her, and with her, and with her, and with her, and with her, and with her, and with her, and with her, and with her, and with her, and with her, and with her, and with her poetry, and with her poetry, and with her poetry, and with her poetry, and with her poetry, and with her poetry, and with her poetry, and with her poetry, and with her poetry, and with her poetry, and with her poetry, and with her poetry. Memorial moments from Giovanni's life, including her conversation from 1971 with James Baldwin. The film won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize in 2023.
