'Can it really all be built, those 100,000 homes in this growing region?'

'Can it all really be built, that 100,000 homes in this growing region? Are there enough construction workers, bricklayers and other construction workers?' The Eindhovens Dagblad recently asked these questions to director of BPD-Zuid, Erik Leijten. 'Not if the construction world continues to stick to the current working method', was his response in the interview: 'Working with prefab elements and series construction, architects and developers are not concerned about this. Based on their craftsmanship and commitment, they want to make every house the best house. But that sacred house will have to be destroyed." And that is already changing, he sees: 'Robotization, modular construction, it will be necessary.'

On Thursday February 13 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in Natlab we will be together with Bram van de Rijt (VDL De Meeuw), Theo van Beerendonk (Miscanthus Argi) and Harwil de Jonge (Heijmans) reflect on the scaling up of (housing) construction. Is this possible through the application of innovative techniques with bio-based materials, and with opportunities for the landscape?
