Gruff Rhys is a songwriter and artist from Cardiff, Wales, who writes light-hearted pop songs with beautiful melodies. Rhys is constantly looking for different forms of expression for a broad spectrum of creative ideas and has released dozens of albums to date. His solo work is known for its exploration of musically and lyrically unexplored territory. 2021's 'Seeking New Gods' is a concept album about his own mountain and became his most successful solo album to date, both critically and commercially. The sequel, the baroque pop album 'Sadness Sets Me Free', was released in 2024. The album was recorded in a suburb of Paris with his band and again received favorable reviews. It was widely praised as one of his best works. His latest album in Welsh, 'Dim Probs', will be released in 2025. Gruff Rhys has been releasing records with his first band Ffa Coffi Pawb since 1988, before becoming known as the frontman of Super Furry Animals, a band that has managed to create a rare mix of fuzz rock, pure harmonies and groundbreaking electronics.
