About event
A very left-wing thing. A two-person piece.
A ping-pong with flashes of inspiration. Each is the other's sparring partner.
The experienced opposition politician and the equally experienced clown fight together: in action against political routine. Gregor Gysi, who wants to enrich politics with humor; Martin Sonneborn, who gives politics a disgrace with his wit - in conversation, two test how far you have to go to fall out of the ordinary.
"The PARTY and the left in power: Martin, there would be something going on in Germany!"
"Punk! It would be punk. Pure punk!"
Gregor Gysi, born in 1948, lawyer and politician. Represented as a lawyer, among others, Robert Havemann, Rudolf Bahro and other dissidents. 1989-1992 party leader of the PDS. 1990-2002 and 2005-2015 parliamentary group leader of the PDS and the Left Party. He is still a member of the Bundestag. From December 2016 – December 2019 President of the Party of the European Left. In 2020 he was appointed foreign policy spokesman for the Die Linke parliamentary group in the Bundestag.
Martin Sonneborn, born in 1965 in Göttingen, studied journalism, German and political science in Münster, Vienna and Berlin; Master's thesis on the absolute ineffectiveness of modern satire. Co-editor of Titanic. Thinks it's funny to sit in the EU Parliament for seven years now, despite conclusive scientific arguments at the time. Most recently, he published the book “99 Ideas for the Revival of Political Utopia: The Communist Manifesto”.
The evening will be led by:
Hans-Dieter Schütt, born in Ohrsdurf in 1948, studied theater studies in Leipzig, was an editor and editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper “Junge Welt” in the GDR. He has published numerous essays, biographies and interview books. Among other things, he worked on Gregor Gysi's autobiography “One life is too little” and the book “Gysi vs. Sonneborn: Chancellor Duel of the Heart”.
Tickets are available from October 17th, 2025 exclusively at Eventim! 🎟
