Are you interested in what studying theater means? Come and discuss it with representatives of Brno theater science!
Theatre studies, or theatrology, lead to an understanding of theater art in all its forms and functions. At the Brno department, they research Czech and world theater history, contemporary drama and staging practice in local and foreign theaters, create translations of plays and devote themselves to theater criticism. The essential interests of the department are interdisciplinary cooperation, active establishment of ties with theater practice and strengthening of interest in culture and knowledge among the younger generation.
In connection with Season 50, an opportunity opens up to reflect on the mutual ties between the department and HaDivadl, where we are fully aware that without knowledge of the past it is impossible to fully understand the present and responsibly create the future. In the HaDivadlo series, we hereby provide a space for meetings of representatives of the department, potential study applicants, theater enthusiasts and the general public who wish to better understand and grasp the term theaterology.
🔸
Since the 46th season in HaDivadle, we have been providing space for meetings with non-profit organizations and civil collectives from a local and nationwide environment. We present their activities in the fields of care, humanitarian, educational, research and activism in a curated manner, and individual events can function as moments of visibility of current critical and permanently peripheral situations not only in the Czech context.
"When solidarity disappears, bonds disappear between people. When the bonds disappear, there is nothing to build a shared meaning against.” — Manifesto for Season 43: The Eternal Return — Future Crisis
