The composer Hakan Kursun, who was born in Hanau and now lives in Istanbul, is bringing his current work Klangweg Hanau live for the first time to Berlin. In a solo set for piano, guitar, voice and electronics, he deals with topics such as migration, democracy and social coexistence.
The compositions were created as part of a sound installation of the same name in the public space of Hanau, which opened in 2024. Kursun describes his instruments symbolically: The piano stands for the past, the synthesizers for the present, the guitar for the future and the singing for people.
Critics describe Kursun as a milestone in the psychedelic music scene in Turkey. In addition to his artistic work as a producer and sound researcher, he also works as a university lecturer and runs a studio for spatial music in Istanbul. His concert in the Galilee Church marks his Berlin debut.
