Homesick, is a candid and unapologetic exploration of life abroad, blending sharp observations, witty stories and dark political satire. As a rising Turkish talent in the English comedy scene, Halil tackles identity crises, cultural differences, Amsterdam’s infamous coffee shop culture, and encounters with Dutch gurus during psychedelic retreats. His deadpan humour and laid back delivery take the audience on a thought-provoking journey through the highs and lows of his experience, offering a bold, captivating yet funny take on what it means to be far from home.

Halil Caliskan is a Turkish comedian who has called Amsterdam home since 2017. After leaving the grind of a 9-to-5 consulting job, he followed his dream of opening a restaurant, only to find that life had other plans right at the beginning of 2020. Familiar with using humor to cope with life’s challenges since childhood, Halil found himself at an open mic one night and discovered a new passion for stand-up. What started as a way to escape became something much bigger. He transformed his restaurant into a comedy club, Patron Stage – named after restaurant’s bossy cat, and since then he’s performed and produced hundreds of shows in some exciting theaters and comedy clubs across Europe and beyond.

The show is suitable for audiences aged 18 and above. Video recording will not be allowed during the show; however, you may take pictures.

Le Flaneur is a multilingual bookstore offering books (and curios) in English, Dutch, Turkish, French, German, Spanish, and more, located at Prinsengracht 260.

Doors open at 19:00 and show starts at 20:00.
