Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, has inspired all types of artists. For Miguel Moreira, the questions that arose in the studio were: “What would words do to the dancers’ bodies? What new states could they bring, knowing that the voice would open up new meanings from the words?” About the show, he writes: “The image of people who free themselves from their bonds (social and psychological), who walk free in search of a new meaning for themselves in the world, was what we seemed to be pursuing in this creation.” The title included L’ Ange du Bizarre, Baudelaire’s translation of a book by Edgar Allan Poe (The Angel of the Odd) and an exhibition that the collective saw in Paris and which greatly influenced them. “In the contemporary world, everything takes on new meanings with each new day. Shards of memories of what we experienced and the places we went. Hamlet will always be a literary work that will illuminate our darkest days, and where, without destiny, we will seek to discover what makes us here, tied to the amazement of life.”
