About Hans Grondel: It’s 2011, and Hans walks off stage, feeling a bliss as if he finally knows what his life purpose is. Just before that, he was performing in front of a sold-out concert hall, exchanging guitar solos with Ruben Block, the frontman of Triggerfinger. Despite his success, Hans’s small-town, down-to-earth mentality kept him from spreading his wings—until now.
Hans’s musical inspirations, drawn from the USA and songs about freedom (Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams, Vince Gill, Brad Paisley, John Mayer), have always been the driving force behind his music. After years of being stuck in a rut, he decides it’s time to pursue his American Dream. He sells his bar and moves to Amsterdam to go all in on his music career.
Soon after, multiple singles reach the semi-finals of the UK Songwriting Contest ("Step Into The Ring," "Memories," "Be The Light"). His song “What Are We” earned 5/5 stars from 11 music professionals during the Grand Prize of The Netherlands. He also received praise at ESNS with “Good pop songs and a nice voice,” according to Music Maker Magazine.
With his debut EP Free of Expectations, Hans is ready to take on the world. Many dreams have already come true: a national tour, collaborating with great songwriters and producers. What’s next? An international tour? A collaboration with one of his heroes? The sky is the limit.
Join us at Café de Knoop and enjoy an afternoon of live music, good vibes, and an open mic opportunity!
