About event
Icelandic trio Hatari in February with new album in Berlin
Of course you should never pin a band on a single performance, but the Icelandic trio Hatari gained worldwide attention in 2019 with their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv. Their apocalyptic and anti-capitalism single “Hatrið mun sigra”, which jumped wildly between industrial, pop and goth, literally screamed out from the many pop-esque numbers.
We now know that Hatari is not just a short ESC hype. The debut album “Neyslutrans” took advantage of the new international prominence and made no musical compromises: Trent Reznor certainly also liked the single “Spillingardans” and the song “Klefie/Samed” was a musically and content-exciting collaboration with the Palestinian musician Bashar Murad.
Now the trio is warming up for the release of their new album. “The Popstar” Klemens Hannigan (vocals & production), “The Gimp” Einar Hrafn Stefánsson (drums & production) and Davíð Þór Katrínarson aka “Svarti Laxness” aka “Big D” (vocals) released the new single “Quality Control” in June, the spherical electro-pop with goth theatrics and aggressive, distorted Industrial shouting connects. The new single “MORE” will be released on September 19th before the second album with the same title “MORE” will be released in January. Just a few weeks later, Hatari will present the record live in Germany at an exclusive gig at the Lido on their “MORE TOUR 2025”.
