About the program:
In the final concert we make a step towards the present. Richard Strauss became more experimental in his later works and his music got deeper layers of significance.
We look ahead with Béla Bartóks's first string quartet, in which he was still audibly influenced by Strauss, but at the same time began to find his own way. Mathilde Wantenaar, one of the most promising contemporary composers in the Netherlands, shows in her octet for strings how the music of today sounds.
Fits no work better to conclude the festival than Strauss's four Letzte Lieder, a composition full of calm and acceptance, in which we hear the reflection of a great componist. An intense and moving final piece that is in stark contrast to the boisterousness of the Late Romanticism.
Tickets:
Standard: € 25
Children up to 12 years: Free
Young people up to 30 years: € 10
Festival Passe-Partout: € 60
