About event
The young pianist Bruce Liu won the 2021 Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition. A successful international followed. He makes his debut with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta with the program Homesick for Italy.
“The sun is shining in all its splendor…finally I feel a magical change in me…” wrote Tchaikovsky during a visit to the Italian city of Florence. Souvenir de Florence, the memory of the city he adored, is bursting at the seams with love and joy.
Pianist Bruce Liu was born of Chinese parents and grew up in Montreal, Canada. “What we all have in common is our difference.” His personality was shaped by the cultural diversity he grew up with. He won first prize at the 18th Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition in 2021, after which his international career took off. Bruce Liu makes his debut with Amsterdam Sinfonietta with Chopin's Second Piano Concerto and the virtuoso Polonaise brillante, also by Chopin, both in versions for piano and string orchestra.
