Het barre land

Amsterdam Sinfonietta and ISH Dance Collective challenge each other in Het barre land. Stimulating string music and acrobatic dance forms are featured in this program about decay and rebirth. Based on the hundred-year-old poem The Waste Land by T.S. Eliot and inspired by music by the Iranian composer Farokzhad Layegh, Amsterdam Sinfonietta presents the performance Het barre land in a unique collaboration with ISH Dance Collective. The world in Eliot's poem shows many similarities with the world of today, a world in which challenges continue to pile up. War, poverty, loneliness, climate crisis. However, hope and will are never lost, and in Het barre land, stirring string music and acrobatic dance take you on a sensory quest towards the future, from darkness to light. In this performance about the endless cycle of decay and rebirth, the musicians and dancers challenge each other to push their own boundaries with different music styles and dance forms.
