About event
Look for the meaning of art with a performance inspired by Berlage’s Pantheon der Menschheid on 5 March 2026 in the Muziekgebouw!
Berlage Saxophone Quartet and comedian Vincent Bijlo go in search of the meaning of art and music for society. They are inspired by the design of architect H.P. Berlage The Pantheon der Menschheid from 1915. Berlage presented this utopian peace monument with anti-war poems by Henriëtte Roland Holst. Bijlo, grandson of the architect, nominates from this, while the quartet plays connecting music, winding from Johann Sebastian Bachs Goldberg variations to Joey Roukens.
Program:
19.15 hours/foydeck 1/Introduction
BAHERECE/Grote Zaal Goldberg variations (Peter Vigh)
Erwin Schulhoff Fünf Stücke (Arr. Peter Vigh)
Claude Debussy Pagodes (Arr. Peter Vigh)
Joey Roukens Quodlibet
