About event

❓How did the television workers manage to preserve the broadcast?
❓Where did the Czechoslovak Television broadcast from after the occupation of its buildings?
❓What role did the editors, technicians and Pražené play?

On the morning of August 21, 1968, the occupying tanks headed from the Ruzyne airport also towards the radio and television buildings. This media has been broadcasting and informing the Czechoslovak population about the situation in the country since early in the morning.
We will focus our walk on television, which, like radio, resisted the occupation forces thanks to the courage of its workers.
We will start our walk around the sites of anti-occupation television broadcasts on Senovážné náměstí near the CNB building, where in 1968 the headquarters of Czechoslovak Television was located. It was here that the occupying soldiers arrived in an attempt to interrupt the broadcast. When they couldn't find any broadcasting studio there, they moved to the Town Hall, which they occupied, forcing the editors and technicians to stop broadcasting from there. However, thanks to their courage, this eventually continued from the Minor Theater (formerly Kino Skaut on Karlov náměstí), where we will end the walk.
👉 TV historian Daniel Růžička will be the guide.
The walk takes place as part of the ČT Project of historical and theoretical analysis of TV production.
❗️ Free event, unfortunately the capacity is already full, thank you for your understanding.

MPXX is preparing other historical walks in the fall, which we will inform about in advance.
