About event
✨hungry water: Rusalka for the first time as part of the Prague Pride festival🏳️🌈
Rusalka, Prince, Foreign Princess – and Witch. Adapted by Daniela Špinar and with music by SOPHIE, the archetypal story turns into a disturbing drama of human identity.
We are what we are dressed in, or do we have the right to tailor the fate that falls to us? When the freedom of one ends where the freedom of another begins, how is it possible that they rub against your skin? Daniela Špinar, in her first independent project after the end of her era at National Theater Prague, presents a reimagining of the famous opera about swamps, in which it is easy to get lost even without fairy-tale mazes. Sometimes it's hard to admit who I am, sometimes it's hard to respect what others want to be.
Based on the libretto by Jaroslav Kvapil for the opera of the same name by Antonín Dvořák.
Director: Daniela Špinar
Music: SOPHIE
Science: Lucia Škandíková
Costumes: Linda Boráros
Dramaturgical collaboration: Martina Schlegelová
Starring: Marie Machová, Zuzana Zlatohlávková, Patrik Děrgel
