The exceptional social project Homeless Blues was created ten years ago on the northeastern outskirts of Prague. The Prague 9 district decided not to evict homeless people, but to offer them a chance: building units, work and the possibility of regaining their dignity. The documentary follows several residents of this community over the course of a year. Margita, who finds support in animals after the death of her partner; Karla and Martina, a couple living under the tracks, who decide to get married; Karel "The Carpenter", a talented craftsman unable to leave the settlement; and Hanka and Naďa, two women building a new home under the overpass. Their lives are connected by field worker Karel Valenta, the moral support of the entire community. The film is a silent portrait of hope, fragile stability and human dignity on the margins of society. (source: Czech Film Center)

On the northeastern edge of Prague, a unique social project called Homeless Blues was created ten years ago. The Prague 9 district decided not to push people experiencing homelessness away, but instead to offer them a chance: modular housing units, work opportunities, and the possibility of regaining dignity. The documentary follows several residents of this community over the course of one year: Margita, who finds support in animals after the death of her partner; Karel and Martin, a couple living under the railway tracks who decide to get married; Karel "the Carpenter," a skilled craftsman unable to leave the settlement; and Hanka and Naďa, two women building a new home under a highway overpass. Their lives are connected by outreach worker Karel Valenta, the moral support of the entire community.
