Erika is the wife of an evangelical priest who is refused to be ordained here and who therefore studies acting at VŠMU and becomes a radio announcer. And it is he who broadcasts the legendary call for the occupation of our country by foreign tanks. Petra is a young doctor whom her parents would rather send abroad to save her, but until her Slovak diploma is recognized there, she washes dishes in a restaurant. And Soňa is a young Jewish girl who went on a brigade to Israel, organized by the writer Ladislav Mňačko. On the brigade in a faraway world, she is caught by the news about the invasion of Czechoslovakia.
