About event
The Bečov nad Teplou castle and chateau near Karlovy Vary is a unique historical complex that combines Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque building layers. The original castle, founded in the 14th century at a strategic location above the Tepła River, gradually transformed into a representative residence that for centuries reflected the power and ambitions of its owners.
The lecture will describe the development of this complex from a medieval fortress through Renaissance reconstructions to the creation of a Baroque castle. Special attention will be paid to the present, when an authentically preserved medieval castle is being opened to the public for the first time after a demanding restoration.
