Hovory s kastelány: O klášteře Sázava s kastelánkou Jaroslavou Matoušovou

The monastery in Sázava is one of the oldest and most important spiritual centers in the Czech lands. It is inextricably linked to the figure of St. Prokop, a hermit and later abbot, around whom a community was formed in the first half of the 11th century that gave rise to the Benedictine monastery. In its early days, it became famous as a unique center of Slavic liturgy and learning, following the tradition of the Cyril and Methodius mission.

The lecture will present the Sázava Monastery in a broad historical context - from the early medieval beginnings through the period of Gothic and Baroque reconstructions to its transformation into a castle seat and subsequent restoration in modern times. The current care of the area, the ongoing reconstruction and the accessibility of individual parts, including new visitor circuits, will be brought up to date.
