The Flower Garden in Kroměříž is one of the most important historical gardens in Central Europe. This geometrically composed complex, inscribed on the UNESCO list, was created in the 17th century as a representative space for the bishops of Olomouc and is still enchanting today with its well-thought-out symbolism, architecture and rich decoration.
The lecture will present the Flower Garden in the context of its creation, detailing its architectural and artistic solutions and transformations over the centuries. Attention will be paid to iconic elements such as the colonnade, the rotunda or the system of hedges and floral ornaments. At the same time, participants will learn how this monument is cared for today and how the garden is made available to the public today.
