Hradišťan & Jiří Pavlica is a unique musical group with a high artistic and interpretive level, an unusually wide range of genres and a non-traditional repertoire, whose strong source of inspiration, especially in the early days of its existence, was folk tradition. (see history)
Since 1978, the artistic director of Hradišťan has been a creative personality - violinist and music composer Jiří Pavlica, under whose leadership the dramaturgy gradually began to transform into broader historical, geographical, and social contexts. Interpretive demands on ensemble members were also increasing. Gradually, Jiří Pavlica's original work began to gain significant prominence, which is completely predominant in the latest projects.
Today, Hradišťan (in a broader form, including a dance ensemble) is a professional ensemble that works mainly with the legacy of folk tradition and its philosophical overlap. He crosses the boundaries of musical genres and collaborates with personalities from different cultures around the world. He is a frequent guest at domestic and foreign festivals of traditional, alternative and classical music. Hradišťan cooperates with radio, television and film, has given concerts on 4 continents, recorded more than 30 major sound carriers (see Discography) and collaborated on many others. Among the regular soloists are Alice Holubová, Jiří Pavlica and David Burda.
The way of working, dramaturgy and artistic level rank Hradišťan among the original and unmistakable bodies of the Czech and international music scene.
