About event
"All our lives we are all looking for our safety boundary. Sometimes we consciously cross it here and there. Other times, on the other hand, we just pretend to be very anxious and don't want to be discovered. I think that feelings of threat and uncertainty are particularly relevant today," says photographer and columnist Jan Mach Šmahel. The author enters various environments and communities — from the world of anime and cosplay through personal and bodily themes to places where tension, vulnerability and humor appear in unexpected forms.
Šmahel combines documentary, reportage and stylized photography in his work. He allows the individual stories to intermingle freely and composes a personal picture of the contemporary world in which each of us is looking for his own sense of security.
