Are you fascinated by Mongolian throat singing and would you like to try it with your own voice? Come to a workshop intended for complete beginners and discover the unique vocal techniques of Central Asia.
During the workshop you will learn the basics of Mongolian throat singing kargyraa, learn to work with the voice and learn the principles of diaphragmatic breathing and the first steps of aliquot singing. You will also try subharmonic singing, known as a relaxing Tibetan hum.
What awaits you:
• samples of Mongolian throat singing
• basics of diaphragmatic breathing
• techniques of amplification and voice work
• basic aliquot modulation of the vowels U,A, O, E, I
• introduction to the kargyraa style
• work with a range of harmonic tones and their fixation
You will be guided through the workshop by the singer of the Mongolian band Gerege - Hosoo Hosoo, who will introduce you step by step to the basics of this fascinating vocal tradition.
He has been throat singing since he was five years old and thanks to many years of training he can precisely control aliquot tones and create a characteristic polyphonic sound typical of traditional Mongolian singing. In addition to his solo work, he is also active in the Gerege quartet, a musical group operating in the Czech Republic, which presents throat singing in a contemporary concert context.
No previous experience is necessary - just the desire to discover the possibilities of your own voice.
